ALERT (Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams) exists to build safer communities. Made up of 400 police and civilian staff, we operate in eight communities across the province. We collaborate with individual police agencies to create a more strategic, intelligent response when it comes to serious and organized crime.
Nearly one billion dollars in estimated street value of seized drugs
Over 1,800 firearms used for criminal purposes removed from Alberta’s streets
Child Sexual Abuse Material photos/videos processed by our ICE units
Criminal charges laid as a result of ALERT’s integrated model
Our teams work across the province with municipal, provincial, federal and international partners through our integrated model to investigate and dismantle organized and complex crime that affect communities big and small over Alberta. We are a not-for-profit corporation funded by the Government of Alberta. Unlike jurisdiction-limited police forces, our integrated model compiles sworn officers, civilian staff and investigative resources from several of Alberta’s municipal police forces, provincial RCMP, and federal RCMP. These resources are brought together under the ALERT umbrella, and distributed across 8 regional hubs – our teams can effectively work on the province’s most challenging criminal activity without being set back by the typical jurisdictional constraints an agency would face investigating complex organized crime.
The work we do is about our communities, and that’s why we recognize that residents can be instrumental in tackling serious crime. If you or someone you know has been the victim of a crime, or you suspect criminal activity, please reach out. Your information will remain strictly confidential.
Thank you for helping to make Alberta safer by being actively involved and reporting suspicious activity.
