A Red Deer man faces one count of attempted enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity, and other charges related to distributing and possessing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) after being arrested by US authorities in Orlando, FL.

A 23-year-old is facing charges following a 10-mon

A 23-year-old is facing charges following a 10-month child pornograhy investigation between Morinville RCMP and our Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit.

A search warrant was executed at a home in Gibbons on November 28th. Electronic devices containing child pornography were seized.

Riley Hillier has been charged with possession and accessing child pornography, as well as unlawful storage of a firearm.

A member of the Hells Angels Alberta Nomads chapte

A member of the Hells Angels Alberta Nomads chapter is facing charges after being found in possession of a handgun.

Owen Czech, 55, a self-identified member of the biker club, was arrested by our Integrated Gang Enforcement Team (IGET) in Red Deer earlier this month. He is bound by conditions not to possess firearms.

IGET is a uniform team focused on violence suppression and combatting gang activity throughout the province.

Imesh Ratnayake was handed a 14-year sentence on F

Imesh Ratnayake was handed a 14-year sentence on Friday, November 15.

The sentence was a joint submission from Crown and defence, which Court of King’s Bench Justice James Neilson called “a very, very lengthy sentence.”

The 23-year-old was arrested in July 2022 after an investigation by our Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit. Eight victims were identified.

Insp. Angela Kemp spoke with media this morning on the alleged fentanyl superlab that was operating outside of Valleyview.

We believe the superlab is connected to a larger interprovincial organized crime group operating in Western Canada. The group is involved in not only production, but also chemical importation and wholesale distribution.

Our investigation remains ongoing.

ALERT has dismantled an alleged fentanyl superlab

ALERT has dismantled an alleged fentanyl superlab that was operating outside of Valleyview. It is believed the lab had been in continuous operation for a period of at least two years.

We're offering a glimpse of what investigators found inside and will share more at a press conference scheduled for Friday, November 8.

Court of King's Bench Justice Shaina Leonard sente

Court of King's Bench Justice Shaina Leonard sentenced 37-year-old Marlena Bennett to 10 years in prison after she was convicted of child pornography charges and sexual interference of a minor.

Bennett and her partner, Andrew Wall, were arrested in February 2021 after police seized their computers and electronic devices in October 2020 and conducted a forensic analysis, according to the release issued by ALERT.

The child pornography investigation involved an infant victim.

ALERT’s Integrated Gang Enforcement Team (IGET)

ALERT’s Integrated Gang Enforcement Team (IGET) recently partnered with Wabasca RCMP to address community concerns related to gang activity.

Working alongside Wabasca RCMP officers, ALERT conducted targeted enforcement and vehicle interdiction on known A$AP gang members and their associates.

A$AP, which stands for Always Strive and Prosper, is a street gang who are spread across northern and central Alberta, and correctional institutions. Their criminal activities are connected to drug trafficking, home invasions, robberies, stolen property, and are known to rely on violence.

A Quebec man has been charged with numerous offenc

A Quebec man has been charged with numerous offences relating to human trafficking after allegedly using violence to force two young women into the sex trade.

Our Human Trafficking unit arrested Xavier Godbout, 22, with help from the Calgary Police Service. He remains in police custody.

The two survivors managed to contact police and were provided support resources through ALERT’s Safety Network Coordinator.

ALERT Edmonton’s organized crime team made the seizure on October 9, 2024 after searching an address in the Windermere neighbourhood. The Edmonton Police Service helped with the search warrant execution.

A Stony Plain basketball coach has pleaded guilty to child pornography charges.

60-year-old Ronald Feniuk was arrested at his home in January 2023, and charged after an investigation by ALERT.

ALERT worked alongside the RCMP auto theft unit, Airdrie RCMP and the Calgary Police Service in executing several search warrants in both Calgary and Airdrie in late August.

Calgary-area dealership, International Motor Cars, had two locations that were searched, which led police to recovering 3 stolen and re-vinned vehicles. These vehicles had been sold through the dealership or were advertised for sale. As well, an additional vehicle was located that was determined to be proceeds of crime.

Two Calgary suspects have been arrested in a complex scheme of re-vinning stolen vehicles.

ALERT alleges that two suspects were involved in re-vinning and fraudulently registering stolen vehicles by exploiting the vehicle registration process. Service Alberta has been advised and is assisting in the investigation.
