Calgary… Opioid pills, powders, and a wide assortment of other illicit drugs were seized following an ALERT investigation. A Calgary father and son have been charged.
ALERT Calgary’s organized crime team made the seizure on July 25, 2024, as Calgary Police Service helped execute a search warrant at a home in the Evergreen Estates neighbourhood. Four vehicles were also searched.
ALERT seized a wide assortment of drugs, worth well over $100,000, including:
ALERT also seized $58,833 in cash. The cash, along with the four vehicles searched, will be considered for civil forfeiture submission.
“This would appear to be a relatively elaborate drug trafficking operation with such a variety of chemicals and powders used in production. Once lab analysis is completed, I would anticipate more charges,” said Staff Sergeant Shelby Stewart, ALERT Calgary.
The unknown pills and powders are being submitted to Health Canada’s Drug Analysis Service for further analysis. ALERT believes some of the powders were being used as buffing agents, in steroid production, and illicit Viagra and Cialis.
Warren Jonsson, 57 years old, and Jesse Jonsson, 29 years old, have been charged with multiple counts of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, trafficking in illegal cigarettes, possession of proceeds of crime, and fraud. Warren Jonsson also faces charges under the Cannabis Act.
