Weapons Cache Seized in Drug Arrests

Grande Prairie… Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) has seized a number of weapons, including two assault rifles, along with a wide-range of drugs as result of a drug trafficking investigation that concluded in Wembley, Alta. 

   

ALERT Grande Prairie, with the assistance of Grande Prairie RCMP, Beaverlodge RCMP and Police Dog Services, executed two search warrants and arrested two people in Wembley on June 4th. Jerrid Rychard, a 35-year-old man, and Shylo Sowan, 33-year-old woman, face multiple drug and weapons charges as result of the investigation.

   

The search warrants yielded a range of weapons and drugs, including:  

  • Two .22 calibre Mossberg Tactical assault rifles; 
  • Two handguns that were previously reported stolen; 
  • A loaded .45 calibre handgun; 
  • Two long guns; 
  • Four replica handguns; 
  • Two Tasers; 
  • A flat deck trailer that was previously reported stolen; 
  • Approximately $50,000 worth of drugs; 
  • $5,685 in cash proceeds of crime.   

A wide-range of drugs were seized, including powder cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, oxycodone pills, psilocybin, marihuana, and 262 Fentanyl pills worth in excess of $20,000. Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid painkiller that has recently been blamed in a series of overdose deaths in British Columbia.
