Two people charged in Lethbridge drug trafficking investigation

Lethbridge…On October 11, 2013, members of the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit – Lethbridge with assistance from the Lethbridge Regional Police Service tactical team and patrol members, executed a search warrant on a residence located Lethbridge. The search warrant was the result of a drug investigation into the occupants of the residence. Two males were arrested in the residence and were found to be in possession of crack and powder cocaine, and proceeds of crime (cash). A third person – a female was arrested a short time later outside the residence. In total, 47.2 grams of powder cocaine, 13.4 grams of crack cocaine and $2220 in cash – proceeds of crime – were seized by the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit – Lethbridge. The street value of the cocaine was estimated at approximately $6060.00.

The following people have been charged as a result of the investigation:

•      Mohamed Ahmed Abdullahi (23) of Lethbridge was charged with 2 counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and 1 count of possession of proceeds of crime under $5000.00.

•       Mohamed Mohamud Aly (24 ) of Lethbridge was charged with 2 counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and 1 count of possession of proceeds of crime under $5000.00.

•       The female was subsequently released with no charges.

Abdullahi and Aly will appear in Lethbridge provincial court this morning (October 15, 2013) to answer to their charges.
