Trafficking Charges in Medicinal Grow-op Arrest

Calgary… Two people have been arrested and are facing drug trafficking charges after an Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team investigation into a Calgary medicinal marihuana grow-op.

ALERT’s Green Team, along with members of the RCMP and Calgary Police Service, dismantled a 107-plant marihuana grow-op in Calgary’s Silverado neighbourhood on July 21st. Investigators allege that the licensed grow-op was fuelling the accused’s marihuana drug trafficking operation.

During the six-week investigation, Green Team members witnessed behavior consistent with drug trafficking and evidence consistent with drug trafficking was also seized from the home including scoresheets, scales, packaging materials, and over one dozen cell phones.

In addition to the 107 marihuana plants, investigators also seized the following:

  • 139 grams of packaged marihuana;
  • Loaded handgun that was previously reported stolen;
  • Taser conducted energy weapon;
  • Money Counter;
  • $1,100 in cash proceeds of crime.

AlanStuartMacdonald, 41, and CourtneyDionneMcConnell, 30, were both arrested inside the home and are facing a combined 20 drug and weapons related charges.
