Three arrested in Fort McMurray cocaine bust

Fort McMurray… Three people have been arrested following a cocaine seizure in Fort McMurray. ALERT seized 522 grams of cocaine and nearly $30,000 cash.

On February 24, 2021 two homes in the Fort McMurray neighborhood of Thickwood were searched by ALERT Fort McMurray organized crime team, with help from Wood Buffalo RCMP Drug Section.

ALERT seized nearly $80,000 worth of drugs and cash, including 522 grams of cocaine. ALERT also seized prohibited body armour and conducted energy weapons.

“Organized crime and drug trafficking brings violence, property crime, addiction, and health consequences to our communities. ALERT will continue to work alongside Wood Buffalo RCMP to disrupt the region’s drug trade,” said Insp. Sean Boser, ALERT Regional teams.

Amanullah Khan, 29-year-old man from Calgary, is charged with:

  • Possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking;
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon;
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
  • Possession of proceeds of crime;
  • Possession of body armour; and
  • Obstructing a peace officer.

Jennifer Stacey, 28-year-old woman from Fort McMurray, is charged with:

  • Possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking;
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; and
  • Possession of proceeds of crime.

James Jackman, 53-year-old man from Fort McMurray, is charged with drug trafficking.

ALERT’s investigation began in December 2020 after information was received about drug activity in the region.
