School bus driver charged with child pornography offences

Edmonton… A school bus driver, who worked in the area of Parkland County, has been charged with child pornography offences.

Jared Corbett was arrested by ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit on February 7, 2024 with the help of Parkland County RCMP. The 34-year-old man has been charged with possession, distribution, and accessing child pornography.

The investigation remains ongoing pending forensic analysis of computers and electronic devices seized from the suspect’s Stony Plain, Alta. home.

ICE began its investigation in October 2023 after receiving information about an unknown suspect sharing large quantities of child sexual exploitation materials over the internet.

While the investigation and charges are related to online offences, the nature of Corbett’s employment placed him in a position of trust and authority. ICE is encouraging anyone with information about this case to come forward and contact police. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact local police or Crime Stoppers (1-800-222-TIPS).

Corbett was released from custody on a number of court-imposed conditions, and is awaiting his next scheduled court appearance on March 27, 2024 in Stony Plain, Alta.

ALERT was established and is funded by the Alberta Government and is a compilation of the province’s most sophisticated law enforcement resources committed to tackling serious and organized crime.
