Project Incumbent Dismantles Grande Prairie Drug Network

Grande Prairie… Eight people have been charged and more than a quarter million dollars in drugs and cash was seized as the result of an ALERT investigation dubbed Project Incumbent.

Project Incumbent was a lengthy investigation by ALERT Grande Prairie’s organized crime and gang team that targeted a regional cocaine trafficking network. Eight suspects were implicated, with the most recent arrest taking place on September 21, 2020.

Grande Prairie RCMP helped with the investigation, and a number of specialized ALERT and RCMP teams were utilized.

“Project Incumbent brought together a number of police resources in order to dismantle this drug trafficking network. These arrests will prove to be a substantive hit to drug trafficking in the Grande Prairie region,” said Insp. Sean Boser, ALERT Regional Teams.

ALERT executed search warrants at three Grande Prairie homes and seized more than $260,000 worth of drugs and cash, including:

Two vehicles were also seized.

A total of 33 charges have been laid as the result of Project Incumbent. Thus far, ALERT has arrested three suspects:

  • Kevin Bey, a 33-year-old man from Langley, B.C.;
  • Taylor Edgren, a 27-year-old man from Pitt Meadows, B.C.; and
  • Jeffrey Kayser, a 28-year-old man from Peterborough, Ont.

Warrants have been issued for five suspects, who ALERT believes have left the Grande Prairie region:

  • Christine Emes, a 29-year-old woman from Langley, B.C.;
  • Joseph Poirier, a 39-year-old man from Lethbridge;
  • Preston Dougan, a 24-year-old man from Calgary;
  • Christopher Gilliat, a 31-year-old man from Langley, B.C.; and
  • Matthew Hull, a 30-year-old man from Duncan, B.C.
