Motor vehicle collision results in drug charges against one man in Fort McMurray

Fort McMurray…One man is facing drug trafficking charges following a single motor vehicle collision in the Stroud Bay area of Fort McMurray.

On August 17, Wood Buffalo’s Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU-Wood Buffalo) and the Wood Buffalo RCMP Detachment responded to the scene of a motor vehicle collision where a man had struck a fence. The driver was found unconscious and transported to the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre where he was treated and released.

While responding to this matter, police seized 62 grams of cocaine, valued at over $5,000, along with $1,800 cash from the vehicle.

Timothy PAYNE, age 20, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. He has been released from custody, and his next court appearance is August 28, 2012.
