Handgun, Car Seized as ALERT Shuts Down Edmonton Drug Dealer

Edmonton… ALERT’s continued efforts to curb organized crime in Alberta have resulted in the arrest of a suspected drug dealer in Edmonton and the seizure of a loaded handgun, $240,000 worth of drugs and a significant quantity of other proceeds of crime.

ALERT Edmonton’s organized crime and gang unit made the arrest on June 29, 2017, as they executed a search warrant at an Edmonton home. During the bust, investigators seized a loaded Glock 22 .40-calibre handgun with its serial number removed. ALERT also seized a 2004 Mercedes-Benz sedan and more than $36,000 in cash proceeds of crime; both will be referred to civil forfeiture.

Investigators also found nearly four kilograms of cannabis resin, a highly potent marijuana derivative, and 720 millilitres of cannabis oil. The resin was packed in one-gram packages, with an estimated a street value of $60 for each package.

“Organized crime is still a major threat to the safety of people across Alberta, so getting guns and drugs out of the hands of suspected dealers will help ensure community safety,” says Staff Sgt. Pamela Robinson of ALERT.

Alexei Bouldakov, a 31-year-old man, has been charged with:

• Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking;
• Possession of the proceeds of crime;
• Careless storage of a firearm or ammunition (x2);
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
• Unauthorized possession of a firearm;
• Possession of a firearm knowing the serial number has been altered, removed or defaced; and
• Possession of a prohibited loaded firearm.
