Guns seized in Fort McMurray drug bust

Fort McMurray…Two firearms were seized in addition to $64,000 worth of cocaine in Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams’ (ALERT) latest drug investigation in Fort McMurray.

   

ALERT’s Wood Buffalo Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU), with the assistance of Wood Buffalo RCMP members, has charged a 31-year-old man with nine criminal offences related to drugs and weapons. 

   

Aaron Dean Clifford, of Fort McMurray, is charged with:  

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking; 
  • Possession of property obtained by crime; 
  • Careless storage of a firearm; 
  • Carless storage of ammunition 
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm (x 2); 
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm (x 2); 
  • Storage of a firearm with ammunition readily available.   

The charges come after investigators executed a search warrant at Clifford’s residence on April 3rd and seized:  

  • 640 grams of cocaine, worth an estimated $64,000; 
  • $22,220 in cash proceeds of crime; 
  • Drug trafficking paraphernalia; 
  • Semi-automatic handgun with fully loaded magazine; 
  • Pistol-grip, short barrel 12 gauge shotgun.
