Grande Prairie drug dealer faces charges

Grande Prairie… Nearly $50,000 in drugs and cash has been seized, and a Grande Prairie man is facing multiple charges following an ALERT investigation.

ALERT Grande Prairie’s organized crime team searched a home in the Pinnacle Ridge neighbourhood, as well as a vehicle, on November 17, 2022 and seized:

  • 343 grams of crack cocaine;
  • 920 grams of suspected buffing agent; and
  • $10,000 cash.

“This seizure is a win for both the team and the residents of Grande Prairie. Crack cocaine is an incredibly harmful substance and we know it leads to larger issues and the effects it can have on community safety,” said Inspector Brad Lundeen, ALERT Edmonton.

Jason Truong, 24 years old, has been charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property.

Truong has been released and is scheduled to appear in court on January 9, 2023.

Members of the public who suspect drug or gang activity in their community can call local police, or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers is always anonymous.

ALERT was established and is funded by the Alberta Government and is a compilation of the province’s most sophisticated law enforcement resources committed to tackling serious and organized crime.
