Drugs and guns seized from repeat offender in Olds

Red Deer… Over $100,000 worth of drugs has been seized and a suspected drug dealer is facing 19 charges following a two-month investigation in the central Alberta community.

On November 24th, ALERT Red Deer’s organized crime team, with assistance from RCMP in Olds and Sundre, searched two homes and two vehicles. The following was seized as evidence:

  • 285 grams of fentanyl;
  • 201 grams of cocaine;
  • 697 grams of methamphetamine;
  • 2,900 ml of GHB;
  • 372 hydromorphine pills;
  • 4 firearms;
  • $8,445 cash.

 

The suspect is bound by a lifetime firearms prohibition. Of the four firearms in his possession, two were stolen handguns. The firearms will be submitted for further forensic testing and ballistics analysis to determine if they previously used in any other crimes.

Eric Becker, 33 years old, will make a court appearance in Didsbury Provincial Court on December 5, 2022. He also faces 6 breach charges, which are related to a previous and similar ALERT investigation in February 2022.

ALERT’s investigation began in September 2022 after the team received information about drug trafficking in the community. Olds is located approximately 60 kilometres south of Red Deer.
