Drug investigation leads to charges against Edmonton resident

Edmonton…ALERT’s Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU-Edmonton) wrapped up a drug trafficking investigation with charges against one man and the seizure of over $160,000 in drugs.

On September 26th, 2013, CFSEU-Edmonton intercepted two packages sent through Canada Post that contained vials of anabolic steroids.

A subsequent search warrant at a residence in the area of 201 Street and 48 Avenue resulted in the seizure of 1,350 vials of various types of anabolic steroids, derivatives of steroids, drug trafficking paraphernalia, an operational conductive energy weapon and over $29,000 in cash.

The approximate street value of these anabolic steroids and their derivatives is estimated at over $160,000. The investigation is ongoing.

Richard Dustin Cosman, 32, is charged with two counts of trafficking of a controlled substance, one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking of a controlled substance, one count of possession of a prohibited weapon, and three counts of breach of a court order.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 30, 2013.

CFSEU-Edmonton is an integrated team of Edmonton Police Service (EPS) members, RCMP, and Provincial Sheriffs who work together to address organized crime and controlled substances in the community.
