Crack cocaine, cash seized from Fort McMurray drug dealer

Fort McMurray… Crack cocaine and cash, totaling an estimated $43,000, were seized from a suspected drug dealer in Fort Murray.

ALERT Fort McMurray’s organized crime and gang team made the seizure on January 22, 2021 when a home in the downtown area was searched. Inside the home ALERT located 133 grams of crack cocaine and $30,000 cash.

ALERT’s investigation began earlier in the month when information was received about suspected drug activity. Wood Buffalo RCMP provided assistance.

Yimag Abdi-Ahmed, a 29-year-old man from Fort McMurray was charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, production of a controlled substance, possession of proceeds of crime, and failure to comply with release conditions.

Abdi-Ahmed remains in custody. He was previously charged during a separate ALERT investigation in 2019 for similar drug offences.
