Brooks… An alleged Brooks drug dealer has been arrested and ALERT seized cocaine and methamphetamine from a local home. The estimated street value of the seizure is over $15,000.
“A seizure of this size has a big impact on the local drug trade, especially in a smaller city. We can see the increase in property crime that’s tied to drug use and residents are tired of it. Arresting a suspected drug dealer in our community is a positive for everyone,” said Staff Sgt. Gordon Yetman, Brooks RCMP Detachment Commander.
ALERT Medicine Hat’s organized crime team made the seizure and arrest on October 6, 2022, with assistance from Brooks RCMP and the Medicine Hat Police Service.
The following items were seized from the home:
“This amount of cocaine is a significant seizure for the city of Brooks. When teams are able to take this amount of drugs off the streets, it reinforces the work we’re doing to solve community issues and keep communities safe,” said Staff Sgt. Ryan Thorburn, ALERT Medicine Hat.
Doris Meilleur, 52 years old, has been charged with one count of drug trafficking, possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, and other drug-related charges.
Her next scheduled court appearance is on November 2, 2022.
ALERT’s investigation began in June 2022 in response to community concerns related to drug trafficking.
