Edmonton… Charges have now been laid in relation to a major methamphetamine seizure that took place almost a year ago. Two Edmonton suspects have been charged.
ALERT Edmonton’s organized crime team arrested, in consultation with Alberta Crown Prosecution Service, laid charges against two suspects on March 19, 2025. The two were charged in relation to a 20-kilogram seizure of methamphetamine that took place in Wainright, Alta. last year.

John Corbett, 43 years old, and Jesse Wynia, 43 years old, are the two suspects charged with a total of 24 criminal offences.
Charges against the pair include conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, drug trafficking, firearms trafficking, and other firearms-related offences.
Corbett and Wynia were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court on April 14, 2026.
The meth seizure took place following a traffic stop in Wainright on April 9, 2025. In addition, two Edmonton homes were searched where additional drugs and firearms were located. The drug seizure was valued at $800,000.
Since the time of the drug seizure ALERT has been continuing its investigation by examining additional evidence and working with Crown Counsel to prepare the required reports and disclosure.
Wainright RCMP, Winnipeg Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service, and the Edmonton Police Service all provided assistance with the investigation.
