Edmonton… ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation team has charged a central Alberta man with seven charges in relation to sexual offences allegedly committed against a family member.
ICE alleges the offences took place over an approximate five-year span.
The suspect was arrested on March 9, 2023. ICE is not identifying the location of the alleged offences, nor the suspect’s name, in order to help protect the identity of the victim.
The victim is receiving a variety of specialized support and resources. Zebra Child & Youth Advocacy Centre is providing assistance and Alberta’s Children’s Services has been made aware.
The investigation began in early March 2023 after the victim disclosed to a school resource officer that they were being sexually abused by a family member. Reportedly, the victim had disclosed the abuse to trusted people, but the complaint went unheeded.
