Camrose… A Camrose man has been arrested for allegedly distributing child sexual abuse materials online. The arrest came as the result of a joint investigation between ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit and Camrose Police Service.
Junvier Fajarito was arrested on January 6, 2021 at his home in Camrose. The 20-year-old suspect has been charged with possession and distribution of child pornography.
ICE alleges that Fajarito distributed child sexual abuse materials in an online chat group last year. The RCMP’s National Child Exploitation Crime Centre became aware of the offence and referred the investigation to ICE.
“ICE‘s investigation identified a Camrose suspect, and at that point, Camrose Police became involved. Our agencies were then able to work together to make a timely arrest,” said Sgt. Scott Sveinbjornson, Camrose Police Service.
The investigation is ongoing pending the forensic examination of computers and electronic devices seized from the suspect’s home.
ICE is an integrated team that investigates offences involving child pornography, any computer-related child sexual abuse, child luring over the Internet, voyeurism involving victims under the age of 18, and child sex trade/tourism.
