Calgary girl victim of luring; Police believe there might be more victims

Calgary… A 37-year-old Calgary man has been arrested for child luring and sexual assault and Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) and Calgary Police Service (CPS) are asking other potential victims to come forward.

On January 15, ALERT’s Southern Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit arrested Satinderjit Mangat. Mangat, who also uses the online alias “Sam Pat”, is accused of luring a 14-year-old Calgary girl online and engaging in a sexual relationship.

Investigators believe the two met via Facebook in August 2013 and developed a secretive sexual relationship. In December the victim’s parents discovered explicit chats between their daughter and Mangat and contacted police.

As result of the investigation, police believe there may be additional victims. Anyone who may have been victimized by, or has information concerning Satinderjit Mangat or “Sam Pat” is asked to contact Cst. Heather Bangle at 403-428-4908.

Mangat was released from custody on a number of conditions and his next court appearance is scheduled for February 18th. The charges against Mangat include:

  • Sexual assault
  • Sexual interference with a person under the age of 16
  • Invitation to sexual touching
  • Luring a child under the age of 16
  • Luring a child under the age of 18
  • Making child pornography
  • Possession of child pornography
  • Accessing child pornography
