ALERT Recovers Stolen Guns, Red Deer Man Arrested

Red Deer… Three stolen firearms were recovered, and a Red Deer man has been arrested following an investigation by Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) and Red Deer and Blackfalds RCMP.

The stolen firearms were located following the execution of a search warrant on December 3 at a trailer on Burnt Lake in Red Deer County. A total of five firearms were seized from the residence, with two of the guns prohibited and three being previously reported as stolen.

The firearms included:

  • Walther semi-automatic handgun (prohibited, stolen);
  • ECHASA semi-automatic handgun (prohibited, stolen);
  • Ruger .22 calibre rifle (stolen);
  • Pistol grip Ithaca shotgun (prohibited);
  • Rossi .44 calibre rifle;

David Twerdochlib, 38, was arrested after leaving the home in a stolen vehicle. He was also found in possession of crack cocaine, hydromorphone pills, and cash proceeds of crime. A search of the suspect’s trailer yielded a variety of stolen property, and the trailer itself was also found to be stolen.

Twerdochilb is being charged with a total of 30 criminal offences related to drugs, stolen property, weapons and firearms. He is scheduled to appear in court on December 10.
