Grande Prairie…ALERT’s Grande Prairie Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU) continued its crackdown on drug trafficking with the seizure of nearly one kilogram of cocaine and several other illegal drugs.
On July 26, with help from Grande Prairie RCMP, CFSEU-Grande Prairie searched two vehicles, and residences at 11216 71 Avenue and 8201 114 Street. Police found 940 grams of cocaine, 75 various prescription pills, over 875 grams of marihuana, and over $30,000 cash. The drugs’ estimated street value exceeds $100,000. Two vehicles were also seized.
As a result, James CLERMONT, a 25-year-old Grande Prairie resident, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking Oxycodone, and possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000.
Three Edmonton residents are also charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking Oxycodone, possession for the purpose of trafficking marihuana, and possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000:
All four accused in this investigation have been released on bail and will make their next court appearances in Grande Prairie on August 7.
Earlier in the same week, CFSEU-Grande Prairie also worked with the local detachment to wrap up a separate short-term drug trafficking investigation. Police executed search warrants at an apartment in the South Patterson Place area and a townhouse in the Highland Place area. In total, they seized 22 grams of crack cocaine, over 140 grams of marihuana, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and body armour. The combined estimated street value of the drugs is over $3,000.
Jonathan PERLEY, a 28-year-old Grande Prairie resident, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000, and possession of body armour. He has been released on bail and will make his next court appearance on August 19 in Grande Prairie.
Charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking marihuana are pending against two other Grande Prairie men who are both released on recognizance. Their next court appearances are on September 9 in Grande Prairie.
