Lethbridge…Two people face a number of charges after ALERT’s Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU-Lethbridge) wrapped up an investigation into the trafficking of cocaine and heroin. It is the first time Lethbridge police have found heroin being dealt at the street level.
Launched April 1, CFSEU-Lethbridge is an integrated team of RCMP and Lethbridge Regional Police Service members. CFSEU- Lethbridge concluded their investigation with the assistance of the Lethbridge Regional Police Service’s Community Policing Division, which conducted a vehicle stop in the 900 block of Mayor Magrath Drive South. Two men and a woman were arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking and a search of their vehicle yielded 1.5 grams of a substance believed to be heroin.
A search warrant was then executed on one of the men’s residences in the 700 block of 13 Street South. There, police found 1.2 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine, drug paraphernalia, a prohibited knife and a loaded .22 calibre Ruger assault-style rifle.
The driver of the vehicle was subsequently released without charges. The following Lethbridge residents are charged:
Other weapons and drug charges are pending upon further police investigation.
