December 21, 2012

Fort McMurray…ALERT’s Wood Buffalo Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU) continued its crackdown on drug trafficking this week with the seizure of cocaine and charges against three men.

On December 20, with help from the Wood Buffalo RCMP Detachment, CFSEU-Wood Buffalo executed two search warrants in Fort McMurray, one on Killdeer Way and one on Dogwood Lane. This investigation is unrelated to the search warrant executed last week on Killdeer Way.

In total, CFSEU-Wood Buffalo seized approximately 563 grams of cocaine, with a street value of over $55,000, and 20 grams of marihuana. The team also found drug trafficking paraphernalia and over $4,000 cash.

As a result of this investigation, the following three Fort McMurray residents are charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime:

  • Douglas Jason JARDINE, age 40;
  • Michael Clifton CROCKER, age 24; and
  • Christopher Luc CHARBONNEAU, age 27.

To report suspicious activity in your community, contact police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS). CFSEU-Wood Buffalo is also reminding the public to call its gang information hotline at (780) 788-GANG to report any information that might assist the police in its crackdown on gang and organized crime.

Made up of RCMP members, CFSEU-Wood Buffalo is an ALERT team established and funded by the Government of Alberta to bring together the province’s most sophisticated law enforcement resources to tackle serious and organized crime. Over 400 municipal police, RCMP and sheriffs work for ALERT.
