ALERT arrests Grande Prairie resident on drug trafficking charges

Grande Prairie… Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team’s Grande Prairie Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU), working closely with ALERT’s Edmonton Integrated Intelligence Unit, arrested and charged a 37-year-old Grande Prairie man with drug trafficking and proceeds of crime offences.

On October 15, investigators located a half kilogram of cocaine in a rural area west of Grande Prairie. Further investigation at this location resulted in the arrest of Ralph Bernard McGuigan. McGuigan has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime.

McGuigan is known to police as a member of the Demon Soldiers motorcycle gang in Grande Prairie, and was in possession of his Demon Soldier’s colors when the arrest occurred.

McGuigan has been released on cash bail. His next scheduled court appearance on these charges is October 24, 2011, in Grande Prairie Provincial Court.

A publication ban has been ordered preventing the release of further information at this time.
