Organized Crime & Gangs
ALERT has eight integrated teams dedicated to disrupting and dismantling organized crime, which includes drug networks, gang activity, firearms straw-purchasing, and large-scale financial crimes. Combined Forces Special Enforcement Units are spread across the province with hubs in Calgary, Edmonton, Fort McMurray, Grande Prairie, Lethbridge, Lloydminster, Medicine Hat, and Red Deer.
Internet Child Exploitation
The Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit investigates offences related to the exploitation of children over the Internet. ICE investigates offences involving child pornography, computer-related child sexual abuse, child luring over the Internet, voyeurism involving victims under the age of 18, and child sex trade/tourism.
Criminal Intelligence
Criminal Intelligence Service Alberta acts as a central hub for strategic analysis and intelligence, sharing organized and serious crime as well as emerging trends in Alberta.
Law Enforcement Training
ALERT provides policing personnel with the expertise required to successfully investigate serious and organized crime to enhance the capacity of law enforcement across Alberta.
Human Trafficking
ALERT’s Human Trafficking Counter Exploitation unit investigates domestic human trafficking involving sexual exploitation in Alberta. The integrated unit also works in collaboration with agencies and organizations that help rescue and support survivors of human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
