The ALERT Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit was recently made aware of a YouTube video in which an individual or group identified as “Anonymous” makes claims about certain individuals involved in alleged online luring.
While we cannot comment on specific investigations, we can advise that ICE has been in contact with “Anonymous” regarding a number of allegations. We have encouraged this complainant to work with us but to this point, Anonymous has been reluctant to do so.
In any investigation, specific protocols must be followed for evidentiary purposes. Allegations alone are not enough to allow us to lay a charge. Obviously, it is easier to investigate when we have a cooperative witness.
ICE takes seriously and investigates all complaints related to child exploitation. We act immediately when we have information to suggest a child is in imminent danger. The safety of children is our top priority.
We would encourage those people who have information about this type of crime and who wish to remain anonymous to contact either Crimestoppers or Cybertip.
ALERT’s northern ICE unit is an integrated team made up of members from Edmonton Police Service and the RCMP that investigates the online sexual exploitation of children.

Criminal Intelligence Service Alberta (CISA) has recently developed an Alberta Firearms Intelligence Centre (AFIC) to equitably expand access to firearms intelligence for all law enforcement agencies within Alberta. AFIC will provide timely, accurate, and actionable intelligence to law enforcement agencies and policy-makers to achieve the shared and collaborative goals of increasing public safety concerning firearm-related crimes.
