Three Arrested in Grande Prairie Drug Bust

Grande Prairie… A joint investigation between ALERT and Grande Prairie RCMP has resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine, fentanyl and GHB. Three suspects have been arrested.

ALERT Grande Prairie’s [alert-tooltip title=”ALERT has organized crime and gang teams based in seven cities across Alberta. Click for more info.”]organized crime and gang team[/alert-tooltip] made the seizure on January 22, 2019, after conducting a traffic stop in the Montrose neighbourhood.

Inside the vehicle, ALERT found approximately $80,000 worth of drugs, including:

• 782 grams of [alert-tooltip title=”Methamphetamine (or meth) is a drug that stimulates the central nervous system. It is often seen in the form of a white powder with a bitter taste or a pill. Click for more info.”]methamphetamine[/alert-tooltip];
• 7.5 litres of [alert-tooltip title=”Gamma-hydroxybutyrate, or GHB, is more commonly known as the “date rape drug.” It is odorless and colorless, allowing people to slip it into other people’s drinks without them noticing. Click for more info.”]GHB[/alert-tooltip];
• 10 [alert-tooltip title=”Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid drug that is much more powerful than many others in the opioid family, including heroin, morphine and codeine. Click for more info.”]fentanyl[/alert-tooltip] pills;
• stolen identification; and
• score sheets, scales, and other drug trafficking paraphernalia.

The three vehicle occupants were arrested and charged with numerous drug offences.

Jacob Blid, a 34-year-old man, is charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of property obtained by crime.

Angel Sears, a 21-year-old woman, is charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, possession of property obtained by crime, and breach of recognizance.

Richard Spear, a 44-year-old man, is charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, possession of property obtained by crime, driving while prohibited, and breach of recognizance.
