Fentanyl Dealer Charged in Grande Prairie

Grande Prairie… A 50-year-old man suspected drug dealer was arrested and 122 fentanyl pills were seized in Grande Prairie following a short-term investigation by ALERT.

ALERT’s Grande Prairie organized crime and gang team made the arrest and seizure on June 9, 2017. Two homes were searched with the assistance of RCMP Grande Prairie.

At one of the homes, an apartment complex in Patterson Place, the suspect dumped a bag of fentanyl pills onto the grass of common area while attempting to flee. Investigators painstakingly recovered the pills, while the suspect was arrested without further incident.

In total, 122 fentanyl pills were seized, along with 8.2 grams of cocaine and $1,590 cash proceeds of crime.

Kadir Gobana, 50, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking (x 2), possession of proceeds of crime, and obstructing a peace officer. He is set to appear in court on June 14.
