ALERT Grande Prairie’s organized crime team arrested Dextar Mikenas on August 30, 2023 with the assistance of Grande Prairie RCMP. The 33-year-old man was wanted on outstanding warrants for sexual assault and sexual interference.

Mikenas was also suspected of being involved in drug trafficking. In a search of his Grande Prairie motel room, the following was seized as evidence:

  • 33 grams of cocaine;
  • 3.3 grams of Xanax;
  • 0.5 grams of fentanyl; and
  • 2.9 grams of an unknown substance.

“By seizing any amount of drugs and making sure they never reach onto our streets, is a win for our team and the community. We see the impacts this sort of criminal activity has in our neighbourhoods and we are committed to both preventing it and keeping residents safe,” said Staff Sgt. Tim Fralick, ALERT Grande Prairie.

Mikenas is facing several drug trafficking charges, as well as flight from a police officer. He remains in custody and will appear for his next scheduled court appearance on September 20, 2023.
